Abriska 22301 - Business Continuity Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessment Tool

Business Challenge

To increase an organisation's resilience against disruptions, a business continuity management system (BCMS) should be developed. The current accepted best practice in developing and establishing this management system (including developing business continuity plans) is encapsulated within ISO 22301, the International Standard for Business Continuity Management. ISO 22301 describes a structured approach to creating a BCMS which will help produce appropriate and reflective business continuity plans (BCPs).
To ensure that the BCPs developed are fit for purpose, a phase of analysing and understanding the requirements of each area within the organisation needs to take place. This phase consists of the following requirements:

  • Establish the scope of the services which need to have business continuity arrangements
  • Conduct a BIA which identifies interrelated areas, processes and resources
  • Identify, analyse and evaluate the risks which could either cause a disruption or could affect the recovery of the organisation

How Abriska 22301 Delivers Effective BIA and Risk Assessment

Abriska 22301 has been specifically designed to satisfy these requirements in both a robust and repeatable manner, whilst allowing the organisation the flexibility to tailor each element of the tool to their specific needs. One of the most important aspects of a business continuity programme is the business impact analysis (BIA), through this process the business identifies the organisation’s key products and services, critical activities and required resources. Typically a BIA is conducted using multiple spreadsheets and supporting documents, so viewing all of these relationships requires the aggregation of information from multiple sources.

Abriska solves these issues with a “single source of truth” database. Users are able to enter information through a secure web based system, collection and maintenance of the business impact analysis is therefore easy. The relationship information can either be viewed via extracts or via the interactive dependency graph.
